Our programme of events for the year was declared closed by Árd Mhéara Cllr Des Cahill. We hosted the final concert of the year, with music, dance, excerpts from ‘Ireland Rising’, and re-enactments.
Mary McGrath, seen below with our special ‘closing’ cake, was born on Easter Monday 1916, the day Padraig Pearse read the proclamation from the steps of the GPO.
This photograph was taken of Mary recently in Ballyphehane Community Centre . The Ballyphehane community celebrated Mary’s birthday with her last year and it was a really special day. Our group was delighted to have been there at the time to congratulate her on such a special birthday. We want to wish Mary continued good health and best wishes. And we hope Mary and her friends enjoyed the cake!
